Wildbelt is a landscape initiative connecting nature, water, people and place across the Nidd, Crimple and Oak valleys around Harrogate.

It brings together rivers and becks, woodland, farmland, parks, paths and neighbourhoods as one connected landscape, rather than treating them as separate sites. Together they form the wider natural setting of the spa town, carrying water through the landscape, supporting wildlife and shaping how people move through and experience Harrogate.

Wildbelt is concerned with practical landscape recovery: restoring waterways and wetlands, strengthening woodland and habitat connections, improving walking and cycling routes, supporting local food growing and creating new places for people to meet, learn and take part.

Over time, these interventions can form a continuous network around and through the town. A healthier landscape that manages water better, supports biodiversity, improves access to nature and reconnects Harrogate’s everyday life with the valleys that surround it.
