Taking Wildbelt into the Field

Wildbelt made an appearance as a Field Station at Knaresborough Forest Day on 13 August 2026.

Wildbelt is a developing landscape framework connecting the Nidd, Crimple and Oak valleys around Harrogate. It brings together nature recovery, active travel, community stewardship, local food and culture within one long-term vision.

At Forest Day, a large map introduced the wider landscape and provided a focus for conversation. Books, images, objects and project material helped people explore the proposition, identify places they knew and share local knowledge.

The event also tested the Field Station as a new engagement format, creating an accessible place for mapping, discussion and participation around the future of the landscape.

Conversations during the day generated new contacts, observations and interest in the Wildbelt. These will inform its continuing development and future engagement across the three valleys.

Wildbelt is now being developed as an initiative of Harrogate Spa Society and forms part of its wider work connecting Harrogate’s landscape, health, culture and community life.
